Keeping up with the Smiths
A new 50 bale rotary milking shed complimented by high tech electronic accessories has been a significant investment for the Northland dairy farmers Edwin, Ben and Hamish Smith, whose family has farmed the 100 effective Ha dairy farm near Hikurangi for four generations.
All cows are identified with Zee Tags Electronic ID because they are easy to apply and read really well. There is one reader as the cows enter the shed and another one when they exit over the Tru Test walk over weighing system and through the automatic drafting system. High quality ID an asset for stud management
Joe and Lea Fouhy run 300 red deer hinds, 3100 Romney’s plus an Angus beef stud on ‘Glanworth’, their 600-hectare property south west of Pahiatua.
The Fouhy’s finish all their sheep and deer progeny and are kept busy with the demands of their busy stud. Traceability top of list at Fieldays
New Zealand's Agricultural Showcase 2007, the National Fieldays at Mystery Creek, Hamilton were another success.
This year there was a lot of interest in RFID (electronic tags). Many farmers are seeking ways of streamlining their operation and RFID tags are a core component for gathering and using livestock data. RIFD tags partner very well with one piece tags and there was excellent feedback on the high retention of this unique Zee Tags product.
